Josef A. Ramsauer (B.A. M.A.) was born in Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg (Bavaria) in 1989.
He studied musicology, music education and composition at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and at the Mozarteum University Salzburg (with Tristan Murail, Achim Bornhöft and Kathrin Schlemmer, among others).
In 2015 he received the GEMA Young Music Writers’ Scholarship. In 2021 he was awarded the Young Art and New Paths scholarship from the Freistaat Bayern.
He is a founding member of the New Art and Music Ensemble Salzburg (NAMES) and the founding board member of Unternehmen Gegenwart - Verein zur Förderung zeitgenössischer Musik Regensburg.
He teaches music theory at the Haus der Musik Regensburg and directs the composition class and the ensemble for young music “Haus 2”.
